friday flashback

Being as I embarrassed P last week, I have decided it only fair to offer some back in the day goodness of myself. And by goodness, I mean chubby-cheeked, crazy-haired, less- cute-than-baby-Preston photos of mini Morgan.

It looks as if I may have been storing that donut in my large cheeks - a Sunday School snack perhaps?

I know, I know, I have had great fashion sense from the very beginning!

I wouldn't want to hog this post's picture glory all to myself - so here are my brothers and sisters as well! (Joel, Beka, Hannah, Jesse and little me)

growing a (goofy) relationship

I think life is better with a little goofy. And fortunately for me, my life seems to offer a lot of goofy. Particularly the part of my life called Preston. Like yesterday, when he looked at me very seriously and said, "As our relationship has grown," to which I was anticipating some sort of mushy-gushy love confession, "so has your hair."  And then he doubled over laughing at his cleverness. Or this weekend, when Preston outdid me in the clumsy arena (a first) by spilling scrabble tiles all over the floor, spilling brunch mimosa on himself, running into things repeatedly and accidentally slamming me into the sliding glass door when picking me up. But, because every post is better with pictures, here is some more goofy to get you through the week...

This post is not to imply that Preston is the only goofy one...

....but rather to exploit his goofiness as often people only witness me falling down, tripping and saying embarrassing things.

It seems as if these sort of goofy attributes run in my family...

...case in point. It would appear I also select friends with similar qualities

Do you, too, partake in baking taw kwon do?

Happy Thursday! Both Preston and I are counting down the minutes until the end of the day - we are VERY excited about our long weekend. Newport is calling our name!

a little patriotic planning

Naturally, with it being absolutely beautiful out today, my mind started to brainstorm all sorts of fun activities to do under the sun. And naturally, hosting an out-door shin dig on our porch was the first thing I thought of. It only follows, that I would head over to my favorite new website, to gather all sorts of inspiration.

All of the link love is on my pinterest board- give me a follow

I hope you are still willing to be my friend, despite the fact that I plan months in advance and get far too excited over any thing reminiscent of a holiday. I like to celebrate, what can I say?

goodbye, sweet weekend

I guess, with it being Tuesday and all, I need to let the weekend go. Luckily, our weekend starts in two days so I can't frown for too long! I really do love working, I just love playing a little bit more. Our Easter weekend was fabulous and we loved playing with Lauren. We feasted on way too much Easter candy, made other yummy treats, attended Easter service at a new church, played Scrabble (Preston won although Lauren and I did beat him at Words with Friends - yes, we are that geeky), played football at the beach and of course, shopped!

My sweet Easter basket - complete with the yellow dress I've been wanting! :)

Cutesie pie Lauren SO excited for some In 'N' Out

Our football field yesterday afternoon (until I pouted about my hurt ankle - which is a whole other goofy, uncoordinated post)

And for all of you who want something even yummier than the beach on a 80 degree day to think about, imagine this suit...

...on my Preston guy. I took a picture of him in it in the fitting room (I'm shameless) and it somehow got 'accidentally' deleted. Not cool, Preston, not cool. No need to worry, I will post many, many photos after Preston wears it this weekend in Newport and in June at (this) wedding.

ideas

Last month I mentioned our kitchen makeover - or rather our work-in-progress-kitchen-makeover that was very much needing some extra oomph to be complete. Here's a reminder of it's current state.

While this picture doesn't capture the entire above the cupboard wall space, there is TONS, trust me. I have played with the idea of putting books, vases with flowers (big fail, it came crashing down on the tile days later) and other odds and ends up there, yet nothing has pleased me enough to stay. I refuse to give into what somehow became the decorative norm and but green fake viney things up there. I stumbled upon these images today which got my mind rolling...

Both images from this lovely blog

How precious would two plate racks look placed horizontally on top of the cupboard? (Note: they would be on the slanted, much larger wall not picture in the above photo.) I have a few plates that would look great displayed and I've no doubt I could thrift many more. Ooooh ideas. Now I simply need plate racks!

friday flashback

What better way to celebrate the near beginning of the weekend than to flash back 20 years to Preston's childhood...

I just want to squeeze that little belly button!

How cute is he as Batman?! I am loving the sheets, too!

And because no post is complete without a story - here is a fun little tale of Preston as a youngin'. Although he is sporting Batman gear here, his true obsession was Zorro. I've been told by his parents that he would mark 'Z's on everything to let everybody know that Preston Zorro had been there. So cute!

Happy Good Friday and Earth Day friends - enjoy your Easter weekend!

easter love

SPOILER ALERT - If your name is Preston, Lauren or Sebastian stop reading. Right now. Click out of this browser. Preston, I know you are still reading. Stop it. And now for the rest of you -

My sweets, I cannot wait for Easter. Last evening I tended to baskets for my loves. Here's the goodies...

No shortage of chocolate - trust me :)

How cute are these sweet bottles?

Highlights - cupcake marshmallows,  cutesie candle & Easter soda

Highlights - doggie toothbrush, vitamins & bone

oh yellow

Oh yellow, you have my heart. You make me happy when skies are gray. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my yellow away.

These yellow yummies make my heart pitter-patter

Find the goodness here: Target bedding, Kenneth Jay Lane earrings (introduced to me by this fab blog), Garnet Hill rug, Etsy pillow, Live Love frame,  Yellow Fever polish, Toms shoes,  Vital cup, Donna Morgan dress, and I have NO clue where that cutesie yellow clutch is from - but I want it badly.

a wednesday pick-me-up

I always love some mid-week happiness. Here are pictures sure to put a smile on your face.

"I wear my sunglasses at night so I can, so I can make you giggle"

"Ok, seriously - can somebody tell my auntie to stop talking already? Can't a girl take a nap around here?!"

I am sure many of you have wondered, if presented with the situation, would you be able to accurately give a baby-doll CPR? Allow Ari to demonstrate the proper technique...

"The key is to make sure your mouth engulfs baby doll's entire face"

"You listen to me. You're going to pick me up RIGHT now like it or not!"

Have a fabulous Wednesday dear friends! Shout-out to Arianna for being the cutsiest niece in the world.

honeymoon dreaming

I seem to be in some sort of blissul day-dreaming daze this morning. I am enjoying every second. Preston and I love talking, dreaming and planning our honeymoon. We even have a honeymoon Ipad App or six two. Can you blame us for wanting to escape to this goodness?

South of France - our #1 contenter, images via

South of France SUNFLOWER FIELDS! (I have a thing for sunflowers)

I would love to wake up to this view - beautiful!

French market with flowers, wine & cheese - all I need!

Barbados - our other favorite option, via

As of now, South of France and Barbados are our favorite options. To be honest, I think we could go anywhere together and be happy - but these pretty places have us smitten. We've done step number one and opened a joint savings account for all of our spare pennies and now, because we have a long engagement, we can sit and dream a little longer before full force planning begins.

happy list

Despite the fact that I would much rather be doing this...

...rather than working my bum off, I am one happy girl. Here is my happy list:

I got to have a girl's shopping trip to IKEA with Preston's stepmom Dawn and sister Hannah this weekend. If new curtains and a tooth brush holder can't make me happy, I don't know what can.

It only took me 3.5 hours to decide on these curtains

In four days I get to pick up one of my best friends (Lauren) from the airport, on the same day I get to see my sweet sorority sister Jes who will be in town. Can I just fast forward to the weekend?!

Lauren and I at my 19th birthday party (Molly do you remember our joint celebration!?)

A week from this Friday we will be in Newport with some fabulous people for ZBT Formal. I don't think it's possible to explain how excited  P and I are to see our friends and have a nice little mini vacation! For memories sake, here we were at formal last year...

Rawr Preston

Probably a more accurate portrayal of our evening

When we get back from Newport, if everything goes according to plan, I get to see on of my other best friends Jessica who will be visiting!

Jes & I during her Feb '09 visit to Las Vegas

And.... (drum roll)... in less than a month I will be reunited with my sweet, sweet sister and her family!!!!! (It has hard for me to talk about this without getting so excited that I almost piddle in my pants). It has been 3 months. For those of you with fabulous sisters you know how long 3 months is - way too long!

You can see more of these cutsies here

saturday morning

This morning at casa de p+m...

P avoided my pictures & called me a crazy person for waking up at 7am

Sb yawned while I tried to sing them both awake

I admired our lovely view before trying to wake my boys again

An idea which Preston kicked in the face

But once I made breakfast - they happily woke up and enjoyed the am with me

Happy Saturday! We are looking forward to spending time with Preston's family this weekend - IKEA and theme park trips are in our future. :)

5 things you didn't know...

...about the members of our little family. We'll start with Preston J.

*He talks in his sleep. Not a one word ‘hi’ or a mumble here and there. Sunday night, I witnessed full on bed time conversations, which if I’m not mistaken, were him instructing somebody how to turn it (the pizza maybe?) before you put it through the oven.  A little bit later, he made a strange grunting sound and woke himself up… then tried to blame it on Sebastian! While he can do a lot of things, our dog certainly doesn’t talk in his sleep…

*He gets over-the-top-excited just like I do. He came home from work last week to find me designing our Easter cards. Rather than shake his head at how cheesy cute I am, he looked at the design, looked at me, looked back at the design and said “That’s genius!! Some bunny loves me! Ha ha ha! Some bunny!!”

*You may say that I’m a dreamer, but I’m not. (That was a quote from this movie, if you didn’t catch that.) While Steve Carell may not be a dreamer, we, like this guy, absolutely are. Most people get tired just listening to me. Understandable – I think I someday may make in the Guiness Book for world’s fastest talker. Not only does P not get tired, he keeps up with my 938 ideas a minute thinking and has just as many goals, thoughts, ideas and aspirations. I love how motivated you are Preston!

*He could live off of pulled BBQ chicken. I’m nervous that he and I will actually turn into BBQ chickens if we don’t cut down our consumption. Seriously, we  eat it multiple times a week and have some seriously yummy combos. Pulled BBQ chicken nachos on quinoa chips with corn and pineapple salsa – delish.

*P is one of the hardest workers you will ever meet. I come from an incredibly hard-working family. So while I often appreciate others drive, I am rarely over the top impressed by it. With Preston, I can’t help but be amazed! Every morning he wakes up at 7-7:30 and goes to the gym. He works out for an hour and a half then goes straight to work. Even though his ‘scheduled’ shifts look something like 10-7, he is there until 8:30-9 every night. (That’s an eleven hour day.) When he comes home, he still has energy to talk and play and laugh and have wonderful nights with me! He will never turn down a late night walk, an evening game, cookie baking or anything I throw at him.

I bet you also didn't know he did such great goofy faces!

Now, onto some fun facts about Sebastian...

*Cheese, cheese, cheese. He loves him some cheese. As in, he will bend over backwards for it. He also loves turkey, jelly beans, pulled BBQ chicken (must run in the family) and his doggy vitamins. I come to think of it, there are not many things he doesn’t like…

*Sebastian is a ladies man. We can’t walk anywhere lately without girls obsessing over him and his swag.

*He is scared of dogs under 10 pounds. He thinks they look like rats and finds it very annoying when they nip at his tail.

*He is currently auditioning for a role on the new hit series ‘Breaking In.’ Okay, that’s a lie. But he could be, considering he knows how to open the front door, porch gate and the chain link side yard face.

*He could get away with murder… and knows it. I’ve always wondered about those people who are so overly obsessed with their dogs. Welp, P and I are those nuts. We call Sebastian our son and I, gulp, have baked him personalized doggy cookies.

It's no wonder the girls swoon over him - what a stud!

And then there was me.

*Maybe it’s because I have grown up constantly surrounded by little ones or maybe it’s because I have never (not even one time) heard my momma say a bad word. Whatever the reason, I rarely cuss and instead use my personal ‘angry/ excited sayings’... which are a little out there. I don’t even realize what I am saying until I hear Preston (or others) laughing at me… Oh my monkey breath! Holy sack of potatoes! That was as crazy as a hippo’s behind!

*I am part of a nonprofit talk news radio program. You can find it here. I was a little apprehensive about my high voice and speedy talking speed, but ya know what?  I dig doing this show.

*I obsessively read. I’m not limited to any medium – if it’s words, I love it. This includes books, blogs, magazines, newspapers, websites, white papers, graffiti, anything you can imagine. I just finished this book (amazing) and am now working on this one. Last night, I read cover to cover my Real Simple and Cosmopolitan magazines. Right now my favs are this blog, this one , this one and oh yeah, this one. My other love is photos. If you are a photographer, chances are, I stalk you and am in love with every little piece of goodness you snap a picture of (yes, I know how creepy I sound). If anybody else wants some pretty to look at, I recommend here, here and of course, here. (Spoiler alert, more on this little obsession to come.)

*Remember when I mentioned here my love of nicknames and my one little experience with them? When I was two, I renamed myself Boona. My family and I have no idea where that came from; to this day I have never met nor heard of anyone or thing named Boona. Regardless, that was my name and the only thing I answered to. In fact, if I am not mistaken, that name was scribed on my 3rd birthday cake….

*I crave zucchini at least once weekly. As in, all day all I can think about it getting home and making me some zucchini. I fully blame this addiction onPreston’s momma, Lisa, who introduced me to her magically easy (and crazy delicious) zucchini recipe last year.

For those wondering, I'm back to going by Morgan

inspiration boards

My love of weddings, event planning, flowers and all things pretty finds me spending an awful lot of time day dreaming about our wedding. For those of you interested in some of our ideas, here are mood boards I put together this morning for our welcome/ rehearsal dinner as well as our big day...

We're incorporating P's home state into the overall rehearsal dinner theme

Images on both boards can be found here or here
