i think it is a little unrealistic (and boring even) to only list our fun wedding pictures and awesome adventures - gotta through a little real life in for good measure, no? which is why i present - domestic failures, version 1. you know the kenny chesney song - "eating burnt suppers the whole first year, and asking for seconds to keep her from tearing up." let's just say that is a pretty accurate description of life lately. :)

last week i put one of the frozen stir fry meals on the stove - not a normal dinner, just a good option for those long days when you just want something mildly healthy to eat as fast as possible. except it doesn't work well when you begin cooking it for five minutes, decide it would be a good time to argue with your husband about something petty and forget completely about that stove top meal... luckily that same sweet husband forgives quickly and says, "it's ok, it doesn't taste bad..." (that chicken and those veggies were charred beyond recognition)

fast forward a few days, and we were having a few friends and family over for our photo reveal party (which i cannot wait to share!) i'd run home from work and started to put things together, but was quickly running out of time and starting to get a bit flustered. i went to grab an appetizer out of the oven and then quickly set the oven mitt down on the stove... on a burner that had been turned off one moment earlier and was blistering hot... so naturally the mitt melted on to the burner (currently remains unusable.) luckily for me my sweet dad showed up three minutes later to tell me, 'hey i know i am an hour and a half early so i am going to go grab a quick drink next door and watch the game! see ya soon!' friends you better believe i grabbed his arm so quick and pointed him towards the kitchen 'please! you can't use two of the burners and the oven smells strange but there are more sliders to be made' and then quickly poured myself a glass of wine and ran upstairs to change.

the morals of these failures are god bless parents, and i have a lot left to learn. and thank you pjs for dealing with more than one not-so-awesome meals.

and if i keeping it real, we have had pizza two nights in a row for dinner this week. it is only wednesday. except one of those was MNF so eating anything besides pizza or buffalo dip is frowned upon.

rehearsal dinner moments

let's start at the beginning with the memories i want to savor forever. we wanted to have our rehearsal dinner be more of a welcome reception and wanted to incorporate some texas into our shin dig. it couldn't have come together more perfectly - from our venue to our family, to the beautiful weather (it had been the craziest thunder storms in Port Gamble three weeks before, in the nineties the weekend prior - we lucked out with perfectly clear skies and temperatures in the low eighties). here are a few of my favorite moments...

placing sunflowers on the tables and getting everything set up with my sweet family and
seeing my parents with my aunt and uncle and cousins laughing around the fire

hugging all of our vendors non stop because they were SO amazing and made everything wonderful and seamless for all of us. i truly can't recommend our venue, red cedar farm, our caterers, crescent moon, and our photographer, Nikki of OliverBlue enough

i wanted preston and i to serve the ice cream cones to our guests as a little way to so thank you for coming to celebrate with us. naturally, with our competitive spirits this turned into a race to see who could give theirs to family and friends the quickest. naturally, i won ;)

preston's sweet little brother, josh's speech (or poem rather) that captured so perfectly how much he loved his big brother

seeing the seriously hilarious activities/ poses that ensued with sparklers. it was SO fun to celebrate with our closest family and friends in such a casual, relaxed way to kick off the wedding weekend

nikki (world's best photographer) stealing us for a few sunset photos out in the field near the cattle. the photos she captured are some of my very favorites of us ever.

watching the slide show that had photos of preston and i from bambinos to present

shuffle board. vintage arcade games. delicious bbq.

my sweet uncle and mom's cousin playing one last vintage arcade game at the end of our rehearsal dinner, and having to 'encourage' them that it was time to head back to the resort

heading back to the resort where family and friends gathered around Clearwater's campfire to roast marshmallows  share stories, take fireball shots and... make animal noises (side eye hannah and travis)

more than anything, i want to remember how loving, kind, fun and generous our family and friends were. we felt surrounded by your love and support that entire weekend and that is the memory i will hold closest to my heart forever.

photo reveal party

tonight we get to see all of our wedding photos shot by our amazing photographer! and host a fun shin dig at our new abode (that may or may not still have many boxes yet to be unpacked). to say we are excited is an understatement!

i also began writing an entire post dedicated to what i want to remember about our wedding weekends... and it somehow vanished from my drafts! bummer man, he delivers.* i guess having to go through our big day moment by moment in my memory is not the worst thing that could happen ;) i have said multiple times but i will say it again - can we do it all over again and not change a thing?! we are so blessed beyond words and couldn't have asked for anything better. my special moments to be making an appearance here - with photos! color me giddy. :)

*name that movie.
