Bump Update: Weeks 8-10

Here is my second batch of weekly updates, these ones start at the end of December and go through January. Ignore typos/ grammar errors as I was excitedly writing everything that came to mind in hopes that I wouldn't forget anything!
This photo goes to show how much of a difference a meal makes! I try to take the photos in the morning before I eat anything to actually show my true stomach growth, but in this case I ate a big Christmas breakfast before and you can definitely tell! I wish that belly was there all the time!

Week 8
This was such a fun week. It was Christmas and we traveled to California so I got to tell a couple more members of our family the news which was exciting. It was my first time seeing my parents since we told them (via fun youtube video that I will have to share) and I loved chatting all things baby with my mom. It was so fun to think that next Christmas we will have a sweet four month old babe celebrating with us! I would get teary every time I thought about it, and it was by far the best Christmas present I've ever had. Symptom wise, I felt great this week! My mom was so sweet and stocked the house with things I love and I let myself indulge in eating treats all week, so even food aversions weren't a very big deal! I also snuck in a couple of naps which was amazing (and something I never do). I realized I didn't put on the previous weeks, but since about week six I have been HUNGRY. I was not expecting that particular symptom until much later in pregnancy - but fortunately it is an easy one to solve!

These photos are horrible quality, but like I said I try to take them first thing in the morning to show true growth and since I can last about a minute before I need food, quick snap shots sans makeup are about all I have time for!

Week 9
Still feeling great! At my first appointment, the doctor said that if morning sickness didn't kick in my week 8 I should be in the clear. I am incredibly thankful for that! I may have mentioned to Preston that if this is how I am going to feel the whole time, I'd like 10 more please. He quickly shut that idea down. :) I did start to get the crazy, lucid dreams that I had been hearing about this week. I was so shook up my one that I had a hard time convincing myself it was a dream (and it was about a stabbing in Miami - not even remotely close to anything in my normal life). I made a little headway on getting our guest room that will be turned into a nursery cleared out by listing some things on Craigslist. The next few months are going to be completely focused on purging and then I will move onto the fun stuff like nursery decorating! Toward the second half of the week I did start to get some lower back discomfort, which would mainly act up at night and made me pretty restless. Preston got me a Snoogle (crazy awesome pregnancy pillow) for Christmas so I've started to use that which has helped!

Week 10
I thought it might be fun to get a little format with these so I could consistently track things. I may add other fields but this seems like a good place to start. :)

Baby Size: Prune or kumquat depending on the app I look at!

Feeling: I can't believe I am just a couple of weeks away from being done with the first trimester, and this week I am already 25% done with pregnancy! I am SO excited to meet this precious little one but also want to savor this time I get to grow my sweet babe inside of me. Preston has always been somewhat consistent about wanting only two children, and this week I told him "It makes me so sad to even think that this is my second to last pregnancy! No chance!!" My emotions may have slightly influenced that statement and I may very well be singing a different tune after several nights in a row of a fussy newborn, but right now I am very much loving every second of this.

Food Cravings/ Aversions: Quite honestly, food kind of sucks. I went grocery shopping at Trader Joe's and told Preston that they might as well have had skunks on all of the shelves for how appealing things looked. Not much really sounds good, but at the same time I am completely starving and have to eat every couple of hours. There have been a couple of nights where I've had to ask Preston to go get me a snack right as I am about to fall asleep because my hunger kicks in SO strong and I know there is no way I would be able to sleep through the night. I also get really, really, full very quickly. A bowl of oatmeal with fruit can make me feel like I ate a Thanksgiving dinner. I have purchased and eaten more processed food the past couple of weeks than I have in the past two years combined. It is a phase and right now, while I would love to be filling up with the most nutrient dense food, I am just going to be happy with anything that sounds appealing. This has looked a lot like Cinnamon chex, flavored greek yogurt, pasta, fruit and anything carb-y.

Symptoms: Honestly, the food weirdness above has been the worst of it and I am SO thankful for that! I feel incredibly fortunate to not have morning sickness or horrible fatigue (I am still a bit more tired than usual but nothing debilitating.) I've also had some back discomfort and restlessness sleeping but nothing too crazy, thank you Lord!

Weight Gain: We don't have a scale so I may not be able to do this one consistently, but I had my blood drawn this week (and got to hear the heartbeat - the sweetest sound I've ever heard!) so they weighed me there. I was down 1 lb from when they weighed me at 6.5 weeks.

Projects: This past weekend was one of our few free weekends so I went to town organizing like a mad woman. Like I've mentioned, I wanted the first trimester to focus on purging/ organizing before moving into fun nursery decorating. So, I sold our guest room bed and shelf, cleaned out the closet and organized all of our paperwork/ finances into a handy filing system (thanks for your advice on that Mol!). It felt so great to get things checked off of our list!

Dear Baby: I love you sweet little one! More than you could ever know.
