Bump Update: 20 Weeks, Half Way There!

Baby Size: A banana!

Feeling: Amazed! We are at the half way point of pregnancy which is a little crazy. The past few weeks have flown by and I am shocked we are already at this point. I truly love being pregnant and it has been really incredible continuing to watch my body grow to accommodate this precious boy. We had our 20 week anatomy scan which was the coolest. We got to see his sweet profile and his perfect little arms and legs.

Food Cravings/ Aversions: Nothing! I am a little less hungry lately though - still have a healthy appetite but nothing like how it has been. It is nice to be able to not have to plan my entire day around food. :)

Symptoms: Feeling plenty of precious kicks, my favorite feeling ever.

Weight Gain: Nine pounds at my 20 week appointment which is right on track with where it should be, but I do know that women gain at all different times during pregnancy so if you are way below or above I wouldn't worry too much.

Projects: We are just about finished with our registry! We are way early to the party, but Preston started it a few weeks ago to track the things we want to get ourselves and it has been pretty easy to add as we go (which is so convenient when veteran parents give us recommendations).

Dear Baby: Sweet little man, I love you so. It was so fun to see your precious face on the ultrasound this week. You proved to be quite the little stubborn boy when it came time to get more profile shots at the end of our scan and you promptly flipped over letting us know you were OVER IT. I love how active you are first thing in the morning - it makes me excited for morning walks and play time with you in a few short months.

Bump Update: Weeks 17-19

Week 17

(I somehow forgot to take a picture this week, oops!)

Baby Size: An onion

Feeling: I think this is one of the first weeks where I have a distinct, round baby belly in the morning when I wake up (not just after I eat) and I love it. When looking at other peoples pictures, it seems like it is between months four and five that the belly starts to pop and I am loving it! Aside from that, feeling wonderful.

Food Cravings/ Aversions: None, I LOVE FOOD. :)

Symptoms: Feeling awesome! A growing belly and a healthy appetite are really the only signs of pregnancy at this point. Oh! And some Braxton Hicks which surprised me - I had absolutely no idea it was a common thing to get them this early in pregnancy.

Weight Gain: Up five pounds! Every time I see the scale go up I laugh a little, I never thought I would be so thrilled with weight gain but it means things are moving along healthily so I am all for it.

Projects: The crib has been assembled! I absolutely love seeing his nursery come together and find myself peaking in there at all hours of the day just to daydream about him being here.

Dear Baby: Sweet boy, I pray for you all of the time. I pray that you will love the Lord, that you will know how loved you are and that you will be content with yourself. Whether you are a bookworm like your momma, an athlete like your dad, a musician, computer engineer, anything at all - just know you are loved.

Week 18

Baby Size: Sweet potato (You should know this is one of your momma's absolute favorite foods, I eat it daily and you will too!)

Feeling: Amazing. At the risk of sounding like a super crunchy, annoying hippy I do want to note that so far I have absolutely loved being pregnant. My parents were in town this week (house hunting, SO. HAPPY!) which has been a dream. It is so fun to talk and plan

Food Cravings/ Aversions: None at all, I'm starting to think that maybe cravings are a made up thing? Or I didn't get the memo and I should start pretending?! :)

Symptoms: Braxton Hicks (I get them when I am on my back so I have started to do modifications during work outs to avoid this). I think I'm feeling some movement but am not 100% sure - I am SO ready to feel him squirm around in there.

Weight Gain: Didn't weigh myself

Projects: Hmm, since my parents were here not too many big projects (unless you consider drooling over crib sheets for HOURS a project, in which case I definitely did that.) And I started reading Bring ing Up Bebe which is one my favorite parenting books ever (it may or may not be the only I've ever read too...).

Dear Baby: The weeks are starting to fly by and before we know it I will be snuggling you in my arms! I told your dad how much I love having this time of you growing inside of me, where it is always the two of us together and he got a little jealous. :) He loves you so much already and absolutely can't wait to meet you.

Week 19

Baby Size: A Mango!

Feeling: Sweet baby kicks. They are my favorite thing I've ever felt and I'm so happy you are practicing your karate moves in there. Keep it up! (Also, for any other first time mommas, every single birth forum and veteran mom described movement to me as flutters and bubbles. I think maybe when you feel them earlier that is how it is, but I must have skipped that because they absolutely feel way stronger than that!)

Food Cravings/ Aversions: Still none, even though yellow and orange bell peppers have been tasting so, so good lately. I normally get them once a month but lately they have been a weekly purchase.

Symptoms:  A growing belly and some crazy vivid dreams!

Weight Gain: +7, with a belly to prove it!

Projects: A productive Target trip with my sister and niece where I bought a side table to go next to the glider. It was the sweetest Target run of all time, my previous niece kept holding up things (pokemon backpack, candy, clothes) and saying, 'Momo, I think your baby will really like this.' My heart was melted. When we got home, she proceeded to write down a list of the educational apps I need to download when the baby is six months old so he can learn how to read. Ari is taking awesome care of you my little man!

Dear Baby: I've spent a lot of time this week thinking of how I want to raise you to be a strong, thoughtful, kind, independent man. Being a momma is a lot of pressure! But I know that is my goal, as much as I may want you to stay small forever, that isn't how it works. It is on my and your dad to raise you to be respectful, listen and obey, to treat people with kindness and to work hard. My sweet momma, your Mimi, tells me often the importance of discipline and my precious little man you will have your fair share of it. But I hope you know it will always, always be done in love. Thank goodness we have awhile before we have to deal with that - for now, keep growing and know that I absolute cannot wait to snuggle 24/7 in a few short months.

Bump Update: Weeks 14 - 16

Here is my fourth batch of weekly updates, these ones start in February.  Please ignore typos/ grammar errors as I was excitedly writing everything that came to mind in hopes that I wouldn't forget anything!

Week 14

Baby Size: A lemon! (Which sometimes these descriptions confuse me, babe was a peach last week - aren't peaches normally bigger than lemons?)

Feeling: Really great! My body is starting to change so much and I love watching it all happen. I  am starting to have a bit of round ligament pain, but it is short lived and pretty few and far between. I take it as a sign of everything stretching and growing the way it should here so no complaints! It is a little crazy that this is already the start of month 4 and my second trimester!

Food Cravings/ Aversions: No real aversions to speak of, food is back to being delicious again! I'm not sure I would classify it as a real craving, but this week canned mandarin oranges sounded SO good. I was having a hard time finding them in the grocery store (I very rarely get canned fruit), and when I did there was a nut job man in the aisle who wouldn't leave me alone and kept asking about my astrological sign and all sorts of strange questions. Not to worry, I eventually found those yummy little oranges and walked as fast as I could away from that lunatic!

Symptoms: The few bouts of round ligament are really all I can think of. I've heard that being active is supposed to help and I've found that it has!

Weight Gain: Weighed myself at the gym so I am not sure about accuracy but it said up 3 lbs!

Projects: Finished getting rid of everything that we needed to sell, did another Goodwill donation run and organized our nightstands which have been driving me crazy! One project per week has been helping me feel productive, organized and really calm when I think about how many things are going to get added to our home over the course of the next several months.

Dear Baby: I love you! We announced publicly that we are expecting you and were greeted with so many calls, texts, and emails from people who are so excited to meet you. Everyday that you grow inside of me I fall a little bit more in love with you. I was chatting with a friend recently about what a blessing it is to be able to grow a baby, and while I cannot wait for you to be out in the world in six short months I am savoring every little second of this time where I get you with me all the time.

Week 15

Baby Size: An apple (or orange depending on the app I look at)!

Feeling: Still awesome! This week was especially exciting because I had a doctor appointment on Friday that I had been looking forward to for weeks. Because I still haven't felt my little man move, it is so reassuring to hear the heartbeat on the doppler (and we got to hear plenty of swishes from him moving around so much in there)!

Food Cravings/ Aversions: No aversions to speak of and food is generally pretty easy! As far as cravings, nothing too much to speak of - watermelon does always sound amazing though. And my hunger continues - Preston was so sweet and got up out of bed at 9:30 multiple nights to bring me an evening snack of cinnamon chex. :)

Symptoms: A little bit of round ligament pain but nothing too bad at all. Definitely noticed my belly growing this week - as evidenced by my weight gain! I have noticed my nose picking up on even the slightest scent, I am trying not to be annoying about it but did have to request at a recent girls dinner that we move inside as we were eating outside and the smell of a smoker nearby was a bit too much for me (I hate the smell of cigarettes all the time, but especially while I'm eating).

Weight Gain: Up four pounds! Definitely some growing going on here!

Projects: Operation Nursery has officially started! We went and picked up paint, hired a painter (I'm technically not supposed to be around paint and Preston loathes painting so we splurged and decided to hire this one out). The crib has also been ordered thanks to some very sweet and generous grandparents! Preston also started our registry, he is VERY excited about the gadgets that come along with babies - which should surprise absolutely nobody. :)

Dear Baby: You are so cherished my sweet boy. Guess what? We have your name picked out. Well really we have for the past couple of weeks. We use it all of the time when we talk about you but aren't ready to share with anybody quite yet. Everything is getting so real, and I hope you know that this time of having you grow inside of me is something I will always cherish. I love knowing you are in there swimming around and growing profusely.

Week 16

Baby Size: An avocado, this must be a lucky week since avocados are just about my favorite food of all time.

Feeling: Fantastic! I didn't think the second trimester could get better than the first but somehow it has. Starting on nursery projects and baby shower planning has both Preston and I feel very excited which is so fun.

Food Cravings/ Aversions: Aversions seem to be permanently gone, no real cravings - food is easy! Again, I am so thankful for this!!

Symptoms: Not really anything - extreme happiness? Crazy excitement? Crying happy tears in church worship thinking of how thankful I am for this little life growing in me?

Weight Gain: Didn't weigh myself.

Projects: We went and picked our nursery dresser and Preston spent all of Saturday night putting it together! Don't worry - I provided moral support and hammered in a few nails sideways, always the helpful assistant. The painting will also be done this week and our crib will be arriving shortly. It is so fun to see everything coming together!

We're also doing baby moon planning which I am going to put as a project even though I'm not quite sure it counts. We've planned to do a resort in the Dominican Republic, but due to the Zika outbreak that (along with most other beauty international destinations) is out of the question. Fortunately, there are many domestic places we've yet to explore and I am so excited to head to North Carolina to explore!

Dear Baby: I love you my little man! We are getting all ready for you and can't believe we get to meet you in less than six months! Keep growing strong sweet boy!
